Lodato Creative is proud to present CAFÉ SOCIETY, a new pop standard and light jazz music group playing venues in and around Florence, Italy.

Formed as a response to the demand for more pop and musical theatre programs, CAFÉ SOCIETY combines the talents of a musical theatre professional and an accomplished music director and pianist.

 

Featuring standards from the Great American Songbook, Broadway and cabaret speciality pieces, CAFÉ SOCIETY is a nod to the style of Sinatra, Bublé and Bennett. Composers include George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Harold Arlen, Johnny Mercer, Richard Rodgers, and Lerner and Lowe with a mix of Stephen Sondheim and Andrew Loyd Weber. Examples from the repertoire are “Embraceable You,” I’ve Got A Crush On You,” “The Nearness of You,” and “Someone To Watch Over Me.”

Vincenzo Lodato

Vincenzo has performed in New York, Los Angeles, Palm Springs and Santa Barbara. His favourite roles include: “Tony” in WEST SIDE STORY, “George” in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, “Curly” in OKLAHOMA, “The Prince” in INTO THE WOODS,  “Paul in COMPANY, “Nick” in BABY, “ZaZa/Albin” in LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, “Perchik” in FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, “Street Singer” in THREE PENNY OPERA, and especially, “Dancing Gorilla” in CABARET. 

 

Having a passion for the arts and theater, he co-founded and served as Managing Director of the Contemporary Theatre of Santa Barbara for many years, where he produced many musical theatre productions such as Stephen Sondheim’s COMPANY, AN AMERICAN CANTATA and the West Coast Premiere of Neil Simon and Marvin Hamlisch’s THE GOODBYE GIRL – The Musical. He has also executive-produced productions that included: THE ACADEMY AWARDS NIGHT BEFORE PARTY with the Motion Picture and Television Fund, THE GQ MAN OF THE YEAR AWARDS with MTV and GQ MAGAZINE, AN EVENING WITH TAB HUNTER, SOMETHING SPECIAL: The Lyrical Life of Billy Barnes starring Nancy Dussault as well as WHO WANTS TO LIVE IN NEW YORK? Starring Joyce DeWitt.

 

His career has spanned diverse industries having held creative executive positions at Universal Studios,Warner Bros./New Line Cinema, Disney, FAO Schwarz, Mattel and GQ Magazine / Conde Nast Publications.

Ed Zanders

Ed Zanders is a London based composer and musical director.

 

He studied classical composition at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and is currently a deputy keyboard player on LES MISERABLES(Sondheim) and Operation MINCEMEAT (Fortune) in the West End.

He played rehearsal piano, and deputised both keyboard chairs, for Stephen Sondheim’s OLD FRIENDS starring Bernadette Peters and Lea Salonga (Gielgud) and played keys 1 on the 2022 Taiwan tour of CATS.

 

He orchestrated the 2022 Hope Mill Theatre's revival of PASSION by Stephen Sondheim, starring Ruthie Henshall. The Times of London said "the scaled-down arrangements for just five musicians are a fine match for such an intimate venue". In 2023 he re-orchestrated and music directed the first French language production of Pippin in Switzerland. Ed also improvises, most often with Mischief Theatre in their Olivier award nominated show MISCHIEF MOVIE NIGHT.

 

He has played with on tour around the UK and in the West End as well as for their online run MISCHIEF MOVIE NIGHT IN.
